TOXICITY

United States Testing Company, using the University of Pittsburgh Test Protocol, found that CPVC was "not considered to be more toxic than Douglas fir".

Products of Combustion

  • Carbon Dioxide - CO²
  • Carbon Monoxide - CO
    - common when any organic material burns
  • Hydrogen Chloride - HCI
    - In two separate studies; the Harvard University
School of Public Health with the Boston Fire
      Department, and Southwest Research Institute
with the San Antonio Fire Department, sam-
pled the atmosphere of 260 actual fires and
found the highest concentration of HCI to be
      280 ppm.

    -Southwest Research Institute tested primates
and found that exposure to 11,000 ppm HCI
      was not incapacitating or fatal.

    -Water soluble

    -Decays rapidly
